A brief report this time. Lot’s of things happened this week or are about to happen, so we are a bit distracted.
However……………………………….
We started out letting Bailey and Tommy out first and immediately discovered that Bailey loves having toys thrown at him or past him, he really likes to chase things or fight them. He really gets excited. On the other hand, Tommy can have his quiet moments and loves to be held and lick ears. He can however be very playful and will bounce all over the floor when he gets excited. His bounces are some of the highest I have seen, they are very much like our Fabien’s, in fact if Fabien did not have his black mark on his head they would be almost indistinguishable. Sorry of the long words, happens once in a while. Another analogy, Bailey apart from being a darker ringer for our Burke, he behaves very similarly, he thinks he is a puppy (the dog sort) and will follow you everywhere and be interested in all you do. Bailey is also a bit heavier this week. I found that Bailey loves to fight the hand in the end of the tube, but funny thing, he is so gentle and wont bite. Outside the tube he can be provoked to grab and hold but very hard. He was actually pulling away from my ginger when I put it in his mouth in the tube. You know how they open their mouth’s as a sign of play, well he will pull away if he feels a finger between his teeth.
Gloria loves balls, she will play and chase balls for quite a while. Laura just watches her. Laura quite playful but she is more subdued than Gloria and doesn’t climb cages the way Gloria does. Gloria gets into one-track-mind mode once she has climbed one height, looking for more excitement and another climb. She is a real powerhouse of an explorer. Up and down, up and down, that’s me just up after just getting settled on the floor to play with the other one and I have to get up to pull Gloria off a cage. It’s hard on the “old” back. There! I am looking for sympathy. Both gained a couple of grams this week so they are doing well.
Next out came Hercules and Sophie. These guys play so well together, Herc actually bounces almost as much as Tommy when he tries to pounce on Sophie, but she is quick, and most times he misses. But once or twice he landed and held on and it was funny to see Sophie dragging Herc across the floor on her back. And No, I think this is just play. Sophie also plays back, it is a two way street here folks. Sophie lost 20 grs. this week, may be time for a new coat. She is still very active. She actually nailed Gloria once, Gloria had climbed to the top of the cages and then decided to go down between hers and Sophie’s, well that left her exposed and Sophie grabbed her.
Sophie went into the blue clothes hamper (garbage can) in the corner then flips the lid and peers out at the world.
And finally, thanks from Hercules to who ever brought in the Dingo Beef treats. And don’t leave the packet on the floor, I think he would finish it in one session, he loves them. Sophie likes them but he loves them, back for more and more. Don’t take them well from your hands but will pick up off the floor very well , thank you.
As I mentioned earlier, SH……. Happened this week, our cat Willow came down with what the vet cautiously suspected is a major bladder infection, she was peeing bloody urine. Dribbling actually. The other thought was a rare chance of cancer. She is on A/B’s and we’ll see what happens. A side effect of this is, we wont be having guests for awhile as Willow pee has scented our house.
As some of you know our wonder boy Higgins came down with something a few weeks ago and he has never fully recovered, a suspected bile duct infection/blockage, he is up for an exploratory this week, there could be adrenal in the mix as well.
So keep him in your thoughts.
So that was Saturday.

PS. The floor surface in both the ferret rooms is veeerrrryyy good for ferret bowling.
